Seven Sorrows Catholic Church and School are not affiliated, in any way, with the football team in town with the same name.
You may have seen news stories recently regarding the football organization, and some have used images of our school. This has caused great confusion recently, but we are not affiliated. Of course some of our parishioners play for the teams, but we are not affiliated in any way.
It is confusing, but several years ago, the parish did sponsor a football team, as did many other Catholic parishes. However, none of us support football teams anymore. That has been the case for nearly a decade. Our team was taken over by a new group, and we directed them, through our own conversations and then through the Diocesan attorney, to have our name taken off the team. The new organization refused to do so. This has happened repeatedly through many representatives to their team and league. We will continue to work to have our name taken off the team and league, as it has never been our desire to have them keep our name. It's just not factual that Seven Sorrows Parish is involved with the football organization, so why keep the name?
Sorry for the confusion, and God bless you."
